My Process

Here is a look at the development of Cosmik.

Upon request, I can share the background story for Big James and the packaging redesign for Misen cookware.

Packaging

Phase 1

I went all in on the space theme with this approach. The metallic foil inner pouch referenced the actual food packaging astronauts traditionally had on their missions. And for a little moment of delight, the inside of the carton was printed with an image of the Pillars of Creation shot by the Hubble Telescope.

Phase 2

The darkness of space looked interesting but wasn’t so appetizing for a dairy product. The next iteration aimed to get some social sharing with a nod to the traditional ice cream cone.

Phase 3

As the brand expanded beyond DTC and landed on store shelves, the packaging was redesigned to stand out. The pastel color palette, retail displays featuring the cone pattern, and bold typography helped drive awareness and sales.

Phase 4 (current)

For shelf displays, the cone pattern was retired in favor of a new color-blocked background of pastels with a starry night sky. Additionally, the cartons were replaced with pouches to save on labor and materials.
